Participants of the student design bureau defended their graduation thesis

The participants of the Student Design Bureau of the Engineering Center for Digital Machine Building Technologies of UrFU have defended their final qualification works, which they worked on at the bureau. 

The Student Design Bureau was launched last year. During the year, the project participants were engaged in designing engines for KAMAZ vehicles under the guidance of experienced mentors of the center. Thanks to the Student Design Bureau, the guys got an opportunity to work on real tasks, applying their knowledge in practice.

"We hope that the engines developed under this project will become the basis for the development of the domestic automobile industry and will help to improve the competitiveness of our cars," said Mikhail Zakharov, Head of the student design bureau.

An important partner of the UrFU Engineering Center is KAMAZ, which provides the students with the opportunity to undergo practical training at the plant. KAMAZ employees also act as mentors, helping the students to develop professional skills and deepen their knowledge of automotive engineering. The Student Design Bureau participants were able to create a detailed virtual model of a new power unit, which will allow them to assess the realization of target characteristics without having to make and test prototypes. In addition, they conducted several studies aimed at improving engine performance.

"The office's project meets the real challenges of the industry in training highly qualified specialists. It helps students gain practical experience while still in training and increase their value as a specialist in future employment," summarized Maxim Sapogov, Director of the UrFU Engineering Center for Digital Machine Building Technologies Center.

The students successfully defended their diplomas based on the results of their work. The topics of the projects were: the development of the gas distribution mechanism of the engine with compression ignition, the development of the crank and connecting rod mechanism of the internal combustion engine with compression ignition, the improvement of the performance properties of the internal combustion engine of vehicles with constructive elaboration of the cylinder piston group.

Some of the students participating in the Student Design Bureau will continue their studies in the Master's program.
