The Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, awarded Sergei Sarapulov, the Director of the Ural Power Engineering Institute of the UrFU, with the Badge of Honor of the Sverdlovsk Region "For Merits to the Sverdlovsk Region", 3rd class. The awards ceremony for outstanding Sverdlovsk residents took place on the eve of Russia Day.

The contribution of the Urals inhabitants to the development of the country is always highly appreciated", said Yevgeny Kuyvashev.

In total, the Governor honored 45 people from the Urals with state awards of the Russian Federation, awards of the President of the Russian Federation, and awards of the Sverdlovsk region.

The Ural Power Engineering Institute of the Ural Federal University was created in 2011 by merging two faculties that had existed in parallel since 1964: the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Thermal Power Engineering.

The institute studies current problems of modern fuel, renewable and nuclear power engineering, issues of energy and resource conservation, power engineering, automation, accounting and dispatching of energy production, distribution and consumption, and energy economics.
