Of the 500 winners, 12 are postgraduate students of the Ural Federal University

The lists of competition winners for the Presidential Scholarship for Postgraduate Students have been published. In total, the competition received more than 4.7 thousand applications from first and second-year postgraduate students. Representatives of all federal districts of 73 constituent entities of Russia took part in the selection. As a result, 500 people became winners, 12 of them were postgraduate students of the Ural Federal University. UrFU became one of the five leaders in the number of scholarship holders in the country.

The most common field of study is engineering (134 out of 500). Physicists are in second place (79), followed by biologists (74). Social sciences and humanities received 42 places.

The Presidential Scholarship is a special payment to students for success in studies and research activities. The success of the applicant's supervisor and the application itself, which describes the research, its scientific component, proposed approaches, tasks, and results, are also of great importance for winning. The amount of the scholarship is 75 thousand rubles monthly, the payment is appointed for one to four years.

One of the winners from UrFU is Andrey Bramm, a postgraduate student of the Department of Electric Engineering and Electrotechnology Systems at the Ural Power Engineering Institute.

"My current research is related to automated hybrid energy complexes, which are used to supply power to industrial enterprises in remote areas (for example, in the Arctic zone), combining diesel generation and renewable energy sources", says Andrey.

The postgraduate student has a rich scientific background: various federal and international competitions and championships, for example, the Case-In International Engineering Championship and the Case-In Competition. He also participated in international scientific conferences and published papers in peer-reviewed journals.

"I am proud of myself and my supervisor. Considering that this is the first competition for this scholarship, it is without exaggeration powerful to write a strong application that was selected from the first time," shares Andrey's impressions.

The postgraduate student plans to use the received funds to pay the organizational fees for participation in conferences and for publications in internationally highly regarded journals.
