Young Scientists Will Receive Support under the Priority 2030 Program

They were successful in three Academic Excellence Project competitions

Young scientists of the Ural Federal University will receive support for their research as a result of winning three competitions held within the framework of the Priority 2030 program. The results of the competitions were presented by the expert commission of the strategic project "Academic Excellence".

According to the results of the competition, "Research Engineer of UrFU" for the academic year 2024/25, 35 out of 47 applications submitted to the competition were supported by the expert review. Thus, young researchers - master's and doctoral students of UrFU, as well as university graduates who plan to defend their dissertations soon - have an opportunity to be employed in research positions.\

The UrFU Pre-Postdoc Competition for the academic year 2024/25 received 32 applications from supervisors of foreign Master's and PhD students who are actively engaged in research activities, as well as from UrFU PhD graduates who plan to defend their thesis soon. According to the results of the examination, 18 applications were supported.

According to the results of the competition for the program "Young Scientist of UrFU in 2024", 30 applications were submitted to the second stage of the competitive selection process, and 21 winners were selected based on the results of the expert review. The program is implemented as an opportunity to attract to UrFU young Russian and foreign scientists with Ph.D. degrees who have work experience in leading Russian or foreign research centers.

"It is important for me to do science on a regular basis, to participate in competitions and conferences, and to write articles. Last year we patented a method for determining Sr-90 in natural and waste water, and now we are concentrating Sr-90 from liquid radioactive waste. In the future, we plan to implement the methods in companies", says Nadezhda Belokonova, one of the winners of the "Research Engineer of UrFU" contest.
