The Science Communication Forum Started at the University

What is science marketing, whether artificial intelligence can replace science communicators, and how to popularize narrowly focused scientific research will be discussed at the SciComm-2024 forum. The event, which is held from July 1 to 3 in the main building of UrFU, will be attended by press secretaries of leading scientific organizations and universities, as well as science journalists and promoters from all over the country.

"A science communicator is a bridge between scientists and readers. The essence of a science communicator's work is to tell people about scientists' research and results simply and interestingly. It is especially important to be able to properly communicate information about narrowly focused research that may seem too complex and uninteresting at first glance. The forum will bring together specialists in the field of science communication who will talk about effective methods of popularizing science", explains Dmitry Benemansky, Deputy Vice-Rector for Information Policy of UrFU.

The forum will be held in a three-day format - on the first day, participants will discuss existing and promising ways of popularizing scientific research, tell how to interest the federal media in their scientific project and discuss what challenges the science communication industry may face. On the second day, participants will continue discussing current issues in science communication and participate in a team intellectual quiz. On the third day, the Forum guests will visit the B.U. Kashkin Museum, the UrFU Botanical Garden, or the Novokoltsovsky campus of the university.
