University, SKB Kontur, and Yandex Cloud Will Jointly Train IT Specialists

The sides agreed on a strategic partnership at the Innoprom exhibition

The Ural Federal University has signed an agreement on joint initiatives with SKB Kontur and Yandex Cloud. The agreement was signed at the Innoprom-2024 industrial exhibition by Sergey Kortov, First Vice-Rector of UrFU, Mikhail Srodnykh, General Director of SKB Kontur, and Anna Lemyakina, Director for National and Strategic Projects of Yandex Cloud.

The cooperation aims to train specialists in the Fundamental Computer Science and Information Technologies field. Students will learn how to implement cloud technologies in educational projects, master web development, and be able to create neural networks on their own. It is also planned to organize conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and presentations dedicated to joint projects. Joint events will help to create a platform for sharing experience and knowledge between partners and promote the development of advanced solutions.

"SKB Kontur and Yandex remain our key partners in the mass retraining of personnel for the needs of the digital economy, introduction of practice-oriented methods in the training of IT specialists, and successful development of already implemented joint projects. Experts note that the development of the Fundamental Computer Science and Information Technologies programs is a vivid example of cooperation between universities and companies to solve several tasks of the country's technological leadership. I am sure that training in the topics of cloud technologies and artificial intelligence will allow students to stay at the forefront of science", says Sergey Kortov.

Previously, the companies have already cooperated in joint educational initiatives. For example, Yandex Cloud resources were used in UrFU courses "Cloud Services Engineer", "Project Workshop" and "Fundamentals of Project Activities". In total, more than 300 students have already attended these courses.

"Yandex Cloud actively supports educational programs aimed at training qualified IT specialists. This is the first partnership of Yandex Cloud in the Ural Federal District, with one of the leading universities and a major IT company. The peculiarity of the educational program at UrFU is its universality: specialists with such education will be able to work in a company of any industry and scale. I am sure that the partnership will be useful for the development of the entire IT industry both in the region and in Russia as a whole", commented Anna Lemyakina.

The next step is a strategic partnership, under which Yandex Cloud and SKB Kontur will expand the line of educational programs using cloud technologies and will be able to train more than 100 highly qualified IT specialists per year.

"Every year, about a hundred students enroll in the Computer Science and IT Department, which was created by Kontur based on UrFU together with other IT companies. Each of them implements important projects to train students: Kontur's courses allow them to master programming and web development, and Yandex Cloud technologies allow them to learn how to publish their web applications for users. This has a synergistic effect and increases the value of UrFU graduates in the market for IT specialists. I am sure that the partnership between UrFU, Kontur, and Yandex Cloud will have a positive impact on the development of the IT industry in the Urals", emphasizes Mikhail Srodnykh.

The partnership aims to develop personnel for high-tech sectors of the Russian economy through joint educational programs and to strengthen the digital environment of the university.
