International Academic Council approved UrFU administartion plans on the development of the Center for Cooperation with the BRICS Countries

“BRICS studies centre, created in Ural Federal University, contributes to the positioning of UrFU as a center of cooperation with Brazil, India, China and South Africa”, - said UrFU Vice-Rector for International Relations, Maxim Khomyakov at the meeting of the International Academic Council of Ural Federal University, which was held today. Thus, according to Khomyakov, we can talk about the definition of the geographical priorities of the university.

"We have united the leading universities of the BRICS countries to create joint educational programs and identify common research interests, - says Maxim Khomyakov. - In addition, we have managed to enlist the support of the federal government, becoming a center for the study of the BRICS countries in Russia. "

At the invitation of Dr. Kevin Downing, a member of the Council and the Director of  Knowledge, Enterprise and Analysis Department of City University of Hong Kong, Maxim Khomyakov will hold a presentation at the QS-Apple forum, which will take place in Melbourne in November. Such an event UrFU staff had already held in cooperation with colleagues from the universities of Brazil and the Republic of South Africa during the educational exhibition in Beijing.

The next meeting of the International Academic Council of the University began today with the report of UrFU rector Victor Koksharov. He spoke about the transformation of educational and management processes at the university.

UrFU International Academic Council was created in December 2013. The head of the Council is a climatologist Jean Jouzel, a co-winner of Nobel Peace Prize, director of the Paris Institute of Laplace.

The Council consists of the president of the American Councils for International Education, Dan Davidson; Professor of NES, Shlomo Weber; supervisor of HSE, Isak Froumin; Associate Professor of HSE, Igor Fedyukin; president of "New Eurasia" Foundation, Andrei Kortunov.

The next meeting of Council will be held in the end of October 2015.
