Alison Smale gave the students a lecture on the role of the organization

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Alison Smale and the Rector of Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov opened the UN hall in the university on Friday.

‘The development of international cooperation depends greatly on young people,’ Ms. Smale said. ‘I am particularly pleased here you have many majoring in journalism and that along with media communications this is one of the most popular majors.’

During the meeting with the director of the United Nations Information Center in Moscow, Vladimir Kuznetsov and the first deputy chairman of the Russian Association of the United Nations, Alexei Borisov, it was possible to discuss the organization of the UN Ekaterinburg model.

Ekaterinburg international model of the UN is a scientific conference with elements of a role-playing game, during which students and high school students reproduce the work of the bodies and committees of the organization. The project was established in 2013, UrFU is a partner.

Ms. Smale also met the Director of UrFU International Relations Department Maria Guzikova and Valery Mikhailenko, the Head of the academic department of the Theory and History of International Relations, and discussed aspects of training international experts. After the official meeting, Ms. Smale gave a lecture for students about the role of the UN in society.
