UrFU Develops Collaboration with PRC’s Academic Community

UrFU researchers are to take part in the First ASRTU Robotics Forum in May

In May, scientists of the Ural Federal University will take part in the First ASRTU (Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities) Robotics Forum and the ASRTU Young Scientists Russian-Chinese Robotics Forum at the Far East Federal University. Experts will share their experience in the field of motion control systems and artificial vision, power engineering and technology for creating robotic complexes.

‘Over the past five years UrFU scientists have been systematically developing cooperation with partners from China, which is reflected in a significant increase in the number of joint publications. In 2013, only 13 papers were published, and in 2018 this number exceeded 80. Overall, 209 joint articles have been published in cooperation with specialists from 93 partner institutions in the PRC over the past 5 years,’ Victor Koksharov, UrFU Rector, adds.

According to Victor Koksharov, expert’s participation in such events contributes to the development and strengthening of cooperation with leading universities in China, increasing university’s brand awareness and establishing new contacts both in the research and educational spheres.

UrFU continuously develops cooperation with universities in China. An important result of the university’s meaningful participation in the activities of the association (which already includes more than 60 universities in Russia and China) was the appointment of Ural Federal University as the presiding organization for the years 2017–2019, along with South China University of Technology.

This is facilitated by the Russia’s grant system, which aims to support research projects implemented with international partners. There are two applications for grants on topics related to alternative energy currently under discussion. Northwestern Polytechnical University (Xi'an) – another member of ASRTU – joined the work on the application. At the moment, negotiations are underway with Huawei on cooperation in the field of electronics cooling technologies.
