UrFU to Develop Engineering Education with Siemens

A 3-year agreement between UrFU and the company has been signed

Ural Federal University and Siemens Industry Software are planning on joint events in the field of engineering and engineering education. The agreement was signed the international trade fair INNOPROM 2019 by UrFU’s First Vice-rector Sergey Kortov and Director General of Siemens Industry Software Viktor Bespalov.

 ‘A Center for Digital Machine-building Engineering has been created in UrFU. In fact, we are becoming a vanguard of promoting the idea of digital transformation of the Ural region’s enterprises. Siemens has become a high-status customer and partner in teaching the younger generation,’ said Sergey Kortov.

According to the agreement, UrFU and Siemens are planning to organize joint events, develop the info-educational environment for training future engineers, use the technologies of Siemens PLM Software at the UrFU’s Center for Digital Machine-building Engineering, and hold competitions in engineering competencies.

‘Our company has been working with UrFU for quite a long time. The agreement will help bring the cooperation to a new level, because we understand that the introduction of digital technologies and new production methods cannot be done without training new qualified professionals. We will prepare designers, technologists for real production,’ said Viktor Bespalov. 

In addition, the agreement suggests participation of Siemens PLM Software experts in UrFU’s professional development events, as well as creation of joint professional development programs in the field of engineering. 

Ural Federal University is the organizer of a number of events on the program of the International Trade Fair INNOPROM 2019, which is taking place on July 8-11 in Ekaterinburg at the Ekaterinburg-EXPO International Exhibition Center.
