Professor From UrFU Made a Presentation in Australia About Problems of the Russian Diaspora

Alexei Antoshin has been researching this topic for 20 years already

Aleksei Antoshin, professor at the Department of Oriental Studies at UrFU, has been dealing with the problems of Russian emigration for 20 years. He is one of the few in Russia who is studying this issue, including on materials from Australia. He recently visited this country, where he took part in a traditional conference of the Australian Historical Association.

“I spoke on the history of Russian immigration to Australia. Not everyone understands how serious this phenomenon is – the formation of the Russian community and the subject of the Orthodox Church on virtually Anglo-Saxon culture’s territory. After the speech, historians came up to me and said that the materials that I have presented will help to take a fresh look at some aspects of the life of the Russian diaspora,” says the professor.
