UrFU Students Became Winners of a Fundraising Hackathon

UrFU's team won a grant for a science-popular project

During the two days of the V Forum of Academic Fundraising, students from universities in Ekaterinburg and Russian cities developed fundraising projects at the Do University Fundraising Hackathon.

The teams chose one of 3 areas of work: raising funds for an event, for educational activities, creating a community of graduates. Then they needed to present the idea of ​​the project, paying special attention to the franchising part, and present it to the expert jury.

As a result, the jury selected three winning projects. The third place was taken by students of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) with the project of a sports festival for people with disabilities. The goal of the project is to help people with disabilities adapt in society and the sports sector according to the subprogram 'Development of Physical Culture and Mass Sports' within the state program of the Russian Federation 'Development of Physical Culture and Sports'. Organizers will attract experienced athletes and trainers to work with participants. All this will allow the skills transfer, as well as establishing work relations and even friendly contacts.

Students of the Graduate School of Economics and Management (GSEM) won second place with the Sustainable Weekend School of Sustainable Business project. This is a platform for companies and students to develop competencies in corporate responsibility. The project includes a festival with a job fair, acquaintance with companies, workshops and case studies. Students plan to implement the project entirely on money from fundraising.

And the first place was taken by students of UrFU with the 'Lector' project. Lector is a series of scientific and educational lectures. Speakers share their knowledge and experience, exchanging ideas with the audience in an informal atmosphere within the walls of a loft bar. The project's ultimate goal is to attract 200,000 rubles to the Endowment Fund of the Ural Federal University in 2020, thus widely promoting modern and progressive features of our university.

“Everything turned out to be very cool! We finally worked out the project that we wanted to have in our hands for a long time. We registered everything in the presentation, thinking through every word and wording. And in the end, we were just happy that we were able to answer all the questions, got advice from experts,” said Alisa Pogosyan, a member of the winning team.

All three teams received grants to achieve their projects' goals. The experts wished the participants good luck in the implementation of their projects and noted their high level of knowledge in fundraising.
