Projects by 'Laboratory of the Future' Will Become Part of the Ural Research Education Center

The 'Lab' will move into foreign markets

The Kanatohod robotic complex for diagnostics and maintenance of overhead power transmission lines will be included in the project portfolio of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center (REC) "Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials".

“This year, the Laboratory of the Future has entered a new stage of development: we are facing a new round of investment, in which the company plans to enter foreign markets, open representative offices and production sites. At this stage, we will continue to work within the Ural interregional REC, where our project, in cooperation with other projects and the UrFU, will be able to achieve the planned results thanks to the synergy of efforts, ”said Alexander Lemekh, Director of Laboratory of the Future LLC.

Kanatokhod is one of the most successful products of the UrFU accelerator; it was included in the top 15 projects of the Winter Island working intensive in 2019.

“The team of the UrFU accelerator helped in the development of the project, and the“ Laboratory of the Future ”became a portfolio project of the UrFU Innovation Development Fund. The UrFU Accelerator finds promising projects and innovative developments at the initial stages of their formation. We help to receive grants, look for investors and effectively position our initiatives in front of them, organize participation in exhibitions, explain how to enter the market,” said Nina Feodosiadi, Director at the Technology and Entrepreneurship Transfer Center (UrFU).

According to Feodosiadi, this is the third successful project that "grew" under the wing of the university's accelerator. The UrFU Innovation Development Fund is the first Russian university fund that was created specifically to support innovative start-ups with a subsequent exit from them profitable for the university at a certain stage. For its part, the “Laboratory of the Future” team plans to develop cooperation with UrFU.
