UrFU Engineering Center Made Almost a Million Dollars This Year

The Engineering Center for Digital Technologies in Mechanical Engineering of the Ural Federal University earned 60 million rubles in 2020, having implemented 10 contracts, Center's director Maxim Sapogov told TASS.

“When we talk about the key areas of our work, an important and demanded feature of the center's activities is the ability to provide customers with a full cycle of engineering services, from developing a concept for a future product to manufacturing and testing a prototype,” Sapogov said.

Maxim Sapogov also noted that within the framework of cooperation with the Harbin Polytechnic University, the center has already signed the first contracts for the implementation of engineering work in the automotive industry. The creation of the Center is one of the tasks of the national project "Digital Economy". The center was officially opened in October 2019. 

The Engineering Center for Digital Technologies in Mechanical Engineering was created on the basis of UrFU and is part of the innovative infrastructure of the university. He is involved in digital modeling, which helps to reduce time when creating and testing various parts. The Center uses the “digital twin” technology, that is, a digital model that passes all tests in the digital space. All calculations, tests and experiments can be carried out on a digital model.
