Enterprises from India Are Interested in Joining Ural Research and Education Center

The university held a meeting with Counsellor at the Indian Embassy

Potential involvement of industrial partners of the Ural enterprises in the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center (UIREC) "Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials" was discussed at the Ural Federal University as well as the development of relations in the field of science and education.

"Every year about 15,000 Indian students go to Russia to study medicine, but we would like to increase the flow of those who will study natural sciences, in particular materials science, where UrFU has traditionally strong positions," said Dr. Shishir Shrotria, Science and Technology Counsellor at the Indian Embassy in Moscow.

The diplomat added that the Republic of India plans to strengthen ties with universities located outside Russian capitals.

The Ural Interregional Research and Education Center was created at the initiative of the Sverdlovsk region, and Ural Federal University is the project office. The guest from India was introduced to its facilities by Igor Manzhurov, head of the UIREC administration, Alexander Germanenko, Vice-Rector for Science, and Sergey Kurochkin, Vice-Rector for International Relations.

UrFU has 26 scientific and educational partners in India, and currently 15 Indian students study history, applied computer science, management, chemistry, astronomy and other disciplines at the university. Fifteen UrFU employees hold Indian citizenship. Over the last four years, 327 joint publications have been published by scientists from the university and their Indian colleagues.

The university is also developing cooperation with India within the framework of the BRICS Network University in energy, economics, information security, and ecology.
