The Results of the International Hackathon of Designers Are Announced

University students took several prizes

The results of the III International Competition for Young Designers - the Postindustrial Design Hackathon, organized by the Department of Art History, Cultural Studies and Design of UrFU, have been summarized. The event was attended by 26 teams from Russia (Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg), Turkey, Mongolia, Armenia, Bangladesh, India, Iran and Pakistan.

"This year was incredibly interesting because of the expanded geography of the participants and the practice-oriented tasks set by the customers. It's great that as a student you can assess your international level, see how presentations are made and what ideas are put forward by participants who live on the other side of the planet, understand why you need to learn English, talk to employers, and much more," says Victoria Demenova, Head of the Department of Art History, Cultural Studies and Design.

During 10 days of intense and creative work in an online format, students from different countries created innovative design projects, the most successful of which will later be implemented by clients. During the Hackathon, the teams were advised by mentors (professors from the Department of Cultural Studies and Design) and client representatives.

The students had to solve a real problem that the client has. At the end of the work, members of the jury from among the customers determined the best cases, taking into account the opinion of the international jury.

UrFU students took several prizes. The Shishigi team was the best at solving the task related to the development of the playhub slide in Ekaterinburg, and the team "5.17.19" created the most relevant design for the corporate style of the Ekaterinburg-300 anniversary city event.
