University rectors discussed the possibility of international cooperation

On June 14, a delegation of the Ural Federal University had a meeting at the Yerevan State University. Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU, and Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Rector of YSU, discussed opportunities for international cooperation.  

The Yerevan State University is the oldest university in Armenia. It was founded in 1919 and currently is the largest and most prestigious university in the country. The university is famous for its Pharmaceutical Faculties and Chemistry fields. For example, the program of Fundamental Chemistry is the only one of its kind in the country. The university also offers Applied Mathematics and even has its own Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

In addition, The Yerevan State University provides programs in the fields of Metallurgy, Geology, Psychology, International Relations, Data Science, and Biology. All these programs are common points of interaction and allow to establish the possibility of international cooperation between the universities.

The Yerevan State University is interested in cooperation with the Ural Federal University in a number of fields. In particular, there is an interest in Russian, Iranian, Oriental and Arabic studies. During the meeting, the representatives discussed the possibility of implementing a Summer School in Yerevan and an Armenian-Iranian summer school, which would conduct education and training in promising areas.
