INNOPROM: since 2015 students will acquire more practical skills in machine-building

Two new basic departments of UrFU Institute of Mechanics and Machine Building, Department of Machine Building and Department of Mechanical Production, will start their work on September 1.

The departments are founded with the assistance of Kalinin Machine Plant and Sverdlovsk Toolmaking Plant. The agreement on the opening of the departments was signed by the heads of the companies, URFU Rector Viktor Koksharov and First Vice-Rector Anatoly Matern on July 10 at INNOPROM.

“This is the big step towards strengthening our relations, for the university and our company has been corroborating for a long time. Many UrFU graduates are currently employed by the plant,” said Nikolai Klein, Director in chief of Kalinin Machine Plant.

According to Anatoly Matern, students from the new departments will be completely involved into technological processes in the modern enterprises.

“Founding new departments will have a beneficial effect on the whole system of machine building. We have hopes for the university’s great potential in constructing new instruments. 90% of all the instruments used by the plant are imported,” said Andrey Lubaev, director of Sverdlovsk Toolmaking Plant.

The companies’ representatives mention the main benefit for the students of the new departments – job places are guaranteed for the graduates.

There are several basic departments of metallurgy and energetics in UrFU. This is how the university implements applied bachelor programs.
