This year scientists chose the writer of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District Anna Nerkagi

The staff of the Department of Russian literature of the XX and XXI centuries of Ural Federal University has chosen writer Anna Nerkagi to be a candidate for the Nobel Prize. The movie "White Yagel" was filmed on the base of one of her books.

Anna has written four books, the characters of which are nomadic peoples of Yamal. Philologists appreciated the affection of the writer to the identity of small peoples of the Far North.

"These four books cover burning issues of the present world, - said the Head of the Department, literary critic Leonid Bykov, we live in the era of globalization; civilization unifies all of us, but we are interested in each other not because we are the same, but because we are different. This assertion of the cultural identity looks much nicer than the militaristic insistence on one’s uniqueness. "

This is not the first time the staff of the department chooses the writers. Since the department proved competence, nominating candidates for the Booker Prize, the staff receives a letter from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences every year.
