The Directorate of Information Technologies of Ural Federal University implements a combined system of Internet providing in the new dormitory on Komsomolskaya Str., 70. According to the representatives of DIT UrFU, there is a network in every dorm room and Wi-Fi in common areas.

'Thereby, students can put an access point in their room or simply connect the cable directly to their computers,' explained Maxim Zolotykh, the head of the Department of Information and Telecommunication Infrastructure. ‘Apart from that, users can also connect to a commercial operator Convex.’

The Directorate of Information Technologies plans modernization of networks in other dormitories.

'The main advantage of the Internet is that it can be used anywhere in the dormitory. In rooms there are special sockets for the wire, you can also connect the router and use the services of Convex company or use the connection from UrFU, the price lists are practically the same. Basically, the Internet works uninterruptedly, you can easily find information for study, and after it watch the film,' said the student, the chairman of the Council of the 8th dormitory Maxim Ushakov.

The third-year student of UrFU Institute of New Materials and Technologies Marina Presnakova and her roommate use the university Internet via VPN:

'In general, the speed of the Internet is not bad, but sometimes it slows down. Certainly, the Internet helps in studies and improves leisure. I would like to note that if there are any problems, you can always refer to operators who will help and answer all the questions'.
